The Government’s enforced closure of hospitality businesses means that the industry has lost millions of pounds of income. Business interruption insurance (e.g. for non-physical damage cover including disease, denial/prevention of access, loss of attraction etc.) may enable your business to recover its losses from insurers.
Hospitality sector businesses wanted to know what could be done to obtain payments from their insurers. They expressed interest in joining together to bring a legal claim. Top ranked litigation PR specialists Bell Yard Communications established and administers what has now become known as the Hospitality Insurance Group Action (HIGA). Mishcon de Reya supports HIGA to try to bring a group claim against insurers by acting as its legal advisers.
Any business within the hospitality sector, insured by Aviva Insurance Limited and QBE (UK) Limited (with the policy types detailed on the registration page), can register interest in a potential group claim.
Mishcon de Reya is currently assessing the number of policy holders insured by Aviva Insurance Limited and QBE (UK) limited, who are interested in participating in group claims against their respective insurers.
Mishcon de Reya will contact you by 10 June 2020 to discuss whether funding has been secured to bring a group claim and to discuss next steps if you wish to join a group claim.
The aim is to move forward as quickly as possible.

You will need to provide your business name, description, contact details, the name of the insured on your policy schedule and the name of your insurer on the policy schedule.

COSTS AND RISKS
It will be funded by external third-party litigation funders. You will not have to pay anything. If the case is successful the third party funder is paid by taking an agreed deduction from any recoveries at the end of the case.
